What To Get: Inspired by ancient Mayan talismans, the jeweler Aurora Lopez Mejia’s chunky, handmade gold rings, bracelets and necklaces are often personalized with meaningful words and phrases and set with richly colored gems. Talavera, Mejia’s incredibly chic, new gallery, showcases not only her own women’s and men’s collections, but also boasts a selection of pieces by fellow jewelry designers, including Abraxas Rex, Francisca Botelho, Francesca Bristol, Moritz Glik, Jill Platner, Philipa Holland and Yara Figueirido. There’s also a room devoted to Madeline Weinrib’s carpets, pillows, clothing and handbags. Photographs by Francois Halard, who once used the space as a studio, punctuate the walls.
